PNoy's Secretary Gains Hate Sites over Vietnam Bashing

IT PINOYs early this week can’t stop hitting on PNoy’s assistant secretary, Mai Mislang for tweeting derogatory remarks when they visited Vietnam.

in a banquet hosted by Vietnamese premier Nguyen Minh Triet for the ASEAN summit, Mislang tweeted “the wine sucks” for which her boss, Ricky Carandang (head of PNoy’s communication group) asked back, “The red or the white?”

the wine might have really suck, since she later on tweeted she couldn’t find any handsome men (hash tagging #vietnam) and that the “motorcycle laden streets of Hanoi is one of the easiest ways to die.”
Mislang has long since deleted her Twitter and Facebook accounts, but earned her several hate sites such as in Facebook and in Amplicate (Wine Hate)!

Ellen Tordesillas
made it clear that Mislang’s mashup of personal and corporate thoughts should have been avoided and suggested PNoy’s communication team be made aware of the guidelines on social media.   the government quickly realized this and will soon release it’s own guidelines.

this should be the same for all public figures, Ricky Carandang thought this was a minor incident (check how he asked back which wine suck), Ces Drilon also replied when Mislang tweeted that “walang pogi” in Vietnam… these are honest posts but they should all learn from this and be more responsible. we certainly don’t like other nationalities make fun of us, right?

these are some of Intel’s Social Media Guidelines we all could learn from
  • Post meaningful, respectful comments—in other words, no spam and no remarks that are off-topic or offensive.
  • Always pause and think before posting. That said, reply to comments in a timely manner, when a response is appropriate.
  • Respect proprietary information and content, and confidentiality.
  • When disagreeing with others’ opinions, keep it appropriate and polite.
