the De La Salle – College of Benilde (CSB) wins the this year’s Microsoft Imagine Cup, via designing a software platform that makes classroom learning more engaging for children suffering from Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Team Divided by Zero, a group of 3rd year Information Systems students – Mark Christian Bautista, Camille Ann Domingo and Jason Mari Josol, designed an application that would allow special education teachers to craft and modify interactive games for autistic children as they grow.
Microsoft Imagine Cup started as early as 2003 and it is said to be the world’s premier student technology competition challenging IT students to use advanced technology to address the world’s toughest problems. this year it consists of the following competitions; software design, game design: xbox/windows/phone, IT challenge, kinect fun labs challenge, windows metro style app challenge, windows azure challenge, and windows phone challenge.
so far only two Philippine teams have won medals here (a gold in 2010 and a silver in 2011), both in games design.
the CSB team will fly next to Sydney, Australia on June to compete at the world level – good luck guys!
