Friendster, one of the social network pioneering sites, probably due to declining active users, has announced that it will soon wipe out all photos, blogs, comments and groups uploaded or created by the user and will instead aim at reinventing themselves as a service focused on “entertainmtent and fun.”
Friendster started in 2002 and instantly became a social networking hit for most of the IT PINOYs – well not until Facebook came along. now they encourage users to download the ‘Friendster Exporter’ application to export your full profile, photos and blogs (your precious Friendster memories) as zip files to be downloaded into your local computer.
Friendster however promised to keep all accounts alive, along with user friends lists, games details and basic profile information.
The “new” Friendster is said to go live in the coming weeks.
“Our improved site is designed to create new profiles that allow you to connect differently with people and do things differently than other networking sites. Basically, the new site will complement your existing online presence in other social networking sites.”
