it has been reported that there are now around 2.9 million unemployed Filipinos plus 500k more fresh graduates as of january 2011 – all seeking jobs, hence the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) launches several jobs fairs today.
“On top of the Labor Day Jobs and Livelihood Fair in Metro Manila on May 1, there will be similar fairs that will provide many more opportunities to graduates and job seekers on Labor Day,” Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said.
With a career guide and online job and skills matching facility readily available on the DOLE website, Baldoz hopes to provide the fresh graduates and jobseekers with the best options available. The facility currently offers some 60,000 vacancies (with 70,000 jobseekers registered online) and the facility continues to expand its reach with more employers and companies using the service.
“While the DOLE is taking efforts towards a more efficient job-skills matching process, such as pre-registering job seekers, it is advisable that walk-in applicants bring their credentials to the nationwide job fairs,” Baldoz said, adding: “This will make their job search faster and easier.”
it is advised that job seekers to bring with them their bio-data, clearances, and authenticated NSO birth certificates to facilitate a smoother and more efficient processing of their job search during the fairs.
